Le Puzz
Le Puzz has quickly risen to the top of the list of quality jigsaw puzzle brands. With their chonky, random cut pieces and unique images, Le Puzz puzzles are a joy to work from start to finish. Founders Alistair and Michael are based in NYC and have hosted puzzling events at their studio. In addition to running their successful company, they also collect vintage puzzles from the 60s, 70s and 80s and post frequently about them on their Instagram.
FAO Schwarz
We couldn’t write this blog post without acknowledging one of the most famous toy stores in the world. FAO Schwarz has been around since 1862, and with all those years of experience, they know exactly what to stock when it comes to puzzles. FAO Schwarz carries a huge range of Ravensburger puzzles, which are a fan-favorite brand. Their offerings include Disney Princess themed kids puzzles, 3D models of famous world landmarks, and even an 18,000 piece challenge!
CAMP
CAMP is a totally unique shopping experience that mixes display with play and has rotating themed experiences at their locations across the country. They work with big names, like Disney, to offer exclusive and limited edition toys, games, and puzzles. There are options for children and adults, so everyone can find a puzzle at this store! Mary Arnold Toys
Located in the Upper East side, Mary Arnold Toys has the title of longest continuously open toy store in NYC. Their puzzle selection is mostly aimed at children, with many smaller piece count jigsaws. They have the classic wooden puzzles with easy to hold pegged pieces, but also carry puzzles that make sound when you put the pieces in the correct places! In addition to puzzles, they have other similar puzzle style games such as Rush Hour and Mastermind and puzzle box brain teasers.
Kidding Around
Voted Best Indie Toy Store in NYC by New York Magazine, Kidding around has a large range of puzzles available for all ages. Their wooden children’s puzzle selection has so many fun options from dinosaur alphabet to farm animals. They also carry puzzles for adults and older children as well as puzzling accessories like roll up puzzle mats and adjustable puzzle boards. Kidding Around has non-puzzle options from well known brands like Jellycat, LEGO, and Brio.
Greenpoint Toys
The aptly named store Greenpoint Toys is located in the Greenpoint Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City. This family owned and operated business offers toys and games for all ages including jigsaw puzzles! There are many LEGO and children’s options, but they also have many White Mountain puzzles, a favorite brand in the jigsaw community!
The Jigsaw Nomad
Jigsaw Nomad is a newer, up-and-coming puzzle brand that started in New York City. Owner and founder Valeria Bianco was inspired to create The Jigsaw Nomad after taking photos of beautiful patterns found while walking around NYC in 2020 and 2021. They have their first seven puzzles available for local pick-up in NYC including 22 Trusses, Sweet Tooth, and Flora & Facades. Their Instagram account is filled with colorful photos that will definitely make you smile, so be sure to give them a follow! Playing Mantis
Playing Mantis is a children's toy store in Tribeca, New York City. It was founded in 2006 by Imelda McCain, who wanted to create a store that offered high-quality, handmade toys that were both educational and fun. The store's inventory includes a wide variety of wooden toys, puzzles, games, and other playthings from around the world. A highlight in their collection are their wooden animal shaped puzzles. Each puzzle depicts a baby animal and their parent.
